I have to get this off my chest. It’s blunt, so if you’re feint of heart, click away now.

Oh, still here………..ok, I did warn you!!!!!

Why do so many (Not all, I must add) supposed Spiritual Centres and Churches short-change and hinder the spiritual growth of those who attend.

I hear you gasp!!!!! But it’s true.

Having worked for Spirit for over thirty years, either on platform or 1 to1 I am dismayed to find that so many people want to know more ‘about’ spirit and the interconnection with life………not just the same old tired message time and time again, yet those centres or churches I mention above, are unwilling to push beyond the ‘Oh, let’s keep proving Life After Death’ cycle.

Centres and churches complain of low attendance, but are totally unwilling to do something about it………..why?

PEOPLE WANT MORE!!!!!!!!.........than the same old, same old……….! Yet in most cases they are denied. And that saddens me greatly.

There is so much more to learn than just proof of life beyond physical death. My research shows that almost 90% of the western world already believes that concept………..(And spiritualists shouldn’t start puffing out their chests on this by the way, only 42% of those surveyed where convinced of survival by a spiritualist).

Those committees who run centres and churches that deny their attendees (And their Mediums, for that matter) further leaning, with comments like……..”Oh, it’s not our thing……our people just want the message”. Or “We don’t think our people are ready for anything like ‘this’ or ‘that’”; then those very committees should be ashamed of themselves.

Those committees are working from ego, not love!

In the hearts of the people today there is a yearning. A yearning to ‘know’ more……..to fill the gap within them that cries out “Who truly am I?” “What am I here to do with my life?” “Where and how do I find true inner peace?” “Where is ‘my’ God/Creator?” or “Is this it?”

Those centres I speak of and the ‘Boil-in-the-bag’, ‘Ready-in-five-minutes’ Mediums that spring from them are woefully inadequate for the real task.

The bar rose several years ago and it’s about time centre and church leaders and Mediums raised their standards to meet the challenge.

To the centres and churches that are stuck in the ego mind-set I say this………your attendees are not your people and they deserve more; if you can’t deliver, step aside and let those who can, take over………….and for goodness sake stop bickering amongst yourselves.

To those who have had a few months circle training and then argue that they are ready for platform………..think again! Let me tell you this…………with an ego like that, you are not only cheating the public and yourself, you are also totally disrespectful of those who taught you. Mediums are ten-a-penny these days and it takes years to become a good Medium; even longer to be a great Medium. I was once proud to call myself a Medium.

My spiritual work has changed, thankfully, and I now only work in the very few centres who have the courage to expand themselves and to give more to those who attend.

To the committees of those enlightened centres, may you be blessed for wishing to ride the Cutting Edge of awareness; I look forward to working with you.

Nic - cant agree with you more. I have found the spiritualist movement to be incredibly stale and afraid of change and growth, and made myself quite unpopular in certain quarters trying to push to boundaries and get our of the cosy mindset of the last 50 years.
My centre does try to expand people's horizons beyond the "one hour with a medium and a bit of healing" format, by providing different alternative therapists and new age practictioners for our visitors to enjoy, and this formula seems to have worked as we have attracted extremely high numbers of visitors in the three months since we opened.
We did look at the information that was sent to us regarding your new work, and the only reason we felt unable to proceeed at this stage was purely as we are a new centre, and unlike many of our companions, totally non profit making, it was not something we felt able to financially commit to at this stage. We are very new, and our non profit policy enabled us to give away 400.00 last month to the mental health charity, MIND.
We would like to wish you every success on your spiritual path, and agree that its time for change !
Blessings
Jay

Here here!!
The more I work for certain churches and centres the more I have to deal with egos, petty jelousy and bickering. Hardly the moral spiritual standard I set myself, let alone the example our 'leaders' are supposed to set.
I too was pushed into the public forum a few months after training with a mentor. Years down the line now I cringe at some of the situations I found myself in through him. My gift is now stronger, I am more calm in controlled and have learned my craft over years, and this learning will always continue. I still have a long way to go.
